Meeresrauschen, Möwenkreischen, eine knisternde Lautsprecherstimme:

Hello Sailors!

I'm delighted to announce that the new Gravenhurst album The Ghost In Daylight will be released on April 30th on Warp Records.

Liebe digital Mitreisende, willkommen an Bord!

After The Western lands I had to write an album from scratch; for the first time there was no riffs and half formed ideas left over from previous sessions. […] I went back to my old way of using loads of different guitar tunings to come up with new ideas. I made a point of playing the guitar more, listening to lots of Richard Thompson, and lots of Brian Eno, and I was also heavily influenced by the album 'Maesrk' (…), a stark, monumental ambient masterwork by Skjolbrot aka Dan Bennett. While I was writing song structures on the guitar, I was carving out a sonic space for them to occupy, collecting sound textures by manipulating organs, optigans, mellotrons and synthesizers. As a result, this album is at once the most acoustic album so far and the most electrical.

   Und wie klingt das dann?

Those of you who are acoustically inclined may be pleased to hear that some elements of the album are reminiscent of Flashlight Seasons; there are lots of close vocal harmonies and finger-picked guitars. If you are like me and find the divine in drone, dissonance and noise you may be pleased to hear that there is plenty of that beneath the finger-picking. It’s the most acoustic album I've made, but it’s also the most ambient, cinematic album I’ve made; an emergent contrapuntal sonic phenomenon occupying four to five-dimensional phase-space. It's a bi-limbic, stereotactic sub-caudate tracheotomy of an album. […]

Nachfolgend The Prize im Stream.
